Artificial intelligence is slowly but surely creeping into every corner of modern society day in and day out. In today's day and age, it's almost impossible to imagine getting through a day without tapping into whichever AI tool fits your workflow.

Many fear that this will completely consume the industry in the coming years and that these same tools will replace humans, considering the database they have at their disposal and the speed at which they solve daily problems.

Not even the NBA has managed to escape this reality, heavily leaning into the use of AI for its analytical data over recent seasons. It's a trend that has drawn mixed reactions after the recent statement by Draymond Green, revealing just how present AI has become at the game's highest level.

"I mean, we're not using it per se, like players. How much we're using AI, but the analytical teams, they're using all that stuff," Dray explained on his podcast.

"And I'm sure we'll start to see it creep into the game more and more as it comes down from the front office more into the teams, but right now for us players, it's not used as much on our at all on our day-to-day for us per se."

If we were to break down now what exactly coaching staffs and very likely front offices, use that same artificial intelligence for, it can be assumed that these are some analytical details that extract potential calculations of what the team desperately lacks on its path to contention, which is by no means a bad thing, but it's questionable how much it can put a human factor in the mix.

Yet the full depth of it all is impossible to know, because according to the same analytics that are dominating the league in the last two decades, Jaylen Brown was surplus on the Boston Celtics roster after a season in which he led them to 52 wins and second place in the East against all odds, finishing sixth in the MVP race.

With that being said, it is up to fans to judge how natural or healthy this shift really is and where it might lead, a game historically built on a mix of athletes' raw talent and relentless hard work.

As long as AI serves as an accent to decision-making rather than the drive behind it, there is little cause for alarm. After all, data integration is standard practice in almost every modern industry. Yet at its core, basketball remains a fundamentally human endeavor. The NBA was built on heart, instincts and execution on the hardwood, elements no algorithm will ever be able to replicate.
