Agentic AI Has Arrived

Roughly four years ago, OpenAI kicked off the artificial intelligence revolution with the launch of the "ChatGPT" large language model (LLM). ChatGPT quickly became mainstream, gaining millions of users in the first few days after launch, and ultimately becoming one of the fastest-growing consumer applications in history. Since then, Wall Street investors have gone on a feeding frenzy as earnings and sales growth for AI-related companies has soared, with AI leaders such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Micron (MU), and Nebius (NBIS) delivering triple-digit returns over the past year.

Generative AI applications like ChatGPT and Alphabet's (GOOGL) "Gemini" have soared in popularity. These generative AI models can answer almost any question and quickly create content from user prompts. Like the search engine wars of the late 1990s, the AI winners have likely not been crowned yet. Until Google launched in 1997, Yahoo!, AltaVista, and Lycos owned the search engine arena. However, Google gained an edge in the search engine wars by delivering a faster, cleaner, and more comprehensive search experience. Before Google, search engines were essentially cluttered online directories and digital phone books. Conversely, Google's unique ranking and hyperlink system made internet search a completely different, more optimal experience.

Currently, the AI revolution is shifting from the generative wave to the Agentic phase. Instead of merely answering prompts, Agentic AI autonomously plans and executes multi-step workflows to achieve broader goals. You can think of generative AI as having the smartest person in the world at your fingertips to answer questions. While generative AI is undoubtedly revolutionary, Agentic AI takes the technology a step further. Generative AI is akin to having the smartest person in the world at your fingertips AND willing to complete tasks on your behalf, all at lightning-fast speed.

Muse: Meta's Google Moment?

Over the past few months, AI product launches have been dizzying as tech companies look to cash in on the hype surrounding Wall Street's hottest industry: artificial intelligence. In September alone, OpenAI expanded the "GPT-6" universe, Anthropic released "Claude Opus 5.5," xAI launched "Grok 4.7," and Google updated its family of applications. However, Meta Platform's (META) "Muse" launch is arguably the most significant application release thus far in the AI revolution. In fact, within just a handful of days, Muse jumped to #1 on the Apple (AAPL) App Store and Google Play. Meanwhile, according to Apptopia app analytics, Meta reached 1.1 million installs roughly 10 days after launch, surpassing ChatGPT's 2022 launch. For context, before the Muse launch, ChatGPT was the fastest-growing consumer application in history.
