Drones, DoorDash and really bad AI movies | Paul W. Smith

I did not know this.

Not that I’ve ever come close to feeling like I was under attack by a wayward drone, but I just learned that if I ever did, grabbing my shotgun and blowing it out of the sky would get me in trouble. Big trouble. Federal trouble.

In fact, at least right now, blowing a drone out of the sky, whether it is peering into your windows or anything else, is a federal offense. The same as if you, God forbid, shot an airplane out of the sky. I had no idea.

In a related story, DoorDash has unveiled it’s DoorDash Air program after obtaining certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to operate a commercial drone service. This means they are joining a growing group of commercial drone delivery operators such as Amazon’s Prime Air, Alphabet-owned Wing, and others already active in our area. I have not seen them (or heard them) yet in my neck of the woods, but I have heard people complain about them in their neighborhoods.

Have you discovered the really bad and somewhat attention-grabbing mini-movies now all over Instagram and apparently other social media sites? While Hollywood is up in arms and worrying about artificial intelligence putting all the actors out of business, it’s already done here.

These movies are total AI and feature very real-looking people who somehow can’t pronounce simple words. The movies all pretty much have the same theme throughout: very good-looking rich people hiding their extreme wealth for some unknown reason.
