South Korea unveils nearly $1tr in AI initiatives at San Francisco event - MLex

( July 27, 2026, 04:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Presidential Office announced new artificial intelligence initiatives over the weekend, valued at nearly $1 trillion and mostly involving deals with Nvidia, Broadcom and Microsoft to purchase high-end memory chips from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Naver, SK Telecom and Samsung SDS have also partnered with Nvidia, Amazon Web Services and Anthropic to expand AI data-center capacity in South Korea, as well as pursue other infrastructure projects, according to Kim Yong-beom, chief presidential secretary for policy. South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT also signed a memorandum of understanding with Advanced Micro Devices to cooperate on building heterogeneous AI computing infrastructure.
