Fairfax County social workers use AI to cut down on paperwork

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Fairfax County's Department of Family Services claims to be among the first in the nation to formally pilot artificial intelligence (AI) tools in social work.

The goal of these AI tools is to help caseworkers spend less time on paperwork so they can devote more time to children and families.

Beam, a company that builds self-learning AI agents, said its' AI documentation platform has reduced administrative work by 40 percent.

According to a Beam spokesperson, their technology is used by more than 75,000 frontline workers at more than 130 government agencies and public-sector organizations operating across the U.S., United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.
