With families relocating to the region, the City of Monroe has experienced an upward tilt in the real estate market.\nTo better understand how the housing market has changed since Meta's construction started and the big picture for families in the area, Kelsey Higdon, Digital Sales Manager for Nola.com and The Advocate, spoke one-on-one with Linda Edwards, a realtor at John Rea Realty.\nCan you tell me a little bit about what the housing and commercial market was like before Meta came?\nIt has always been a good market here, but it has also had its dips. However, since Meta announced the project, the market has skyrocketed. I've helped so many families who have left their homes to relocate here.\nWhat do you think people love so much about Monroe? What might surprise someone about moving here?\nI think they love the small-town feel. It's not too big, but it's also not too small. I've also heard people say how welcoming and friendly the community has been. They feel loved and valued. Their kids have parks to play in. There are amazing restaurants and amazing churches.\nHow quickly did the market react once the announcement was made?\nMy broker and I are all about the community, and we always try to stay ahead of the curve. We knew it was coming, and we started to do research on the properties and the building sites. We attended all the Chamber of Commerce events and knew how many people would come in and in what month. Then we started marketing and looking for listings. We started talking to people and worked to make sure that everyone who came in would have a home.\nOne of the reasons you love real estate is that you can positively impact and serve your community. In what ways does this market give you the opportunity to live out your purpose?\nI always look to get to know the family and understand what is important to them. Do they like to go out to eat on the weekends? Do they like to get out on the water? Learning about each family and their hobbies helps me determine how far from the site they prefer to be. Factors such as shorter commutes or waterfront access could be dealbreakers for them. There are so many variables to consider when making sure our families are taken care of.\nThe most important thing is to ensure they are happy with their new location and that their needs are being met, whether that's having a good school for their children or having a great neighborhood with proximity to the activities they enjoy.\nCan you tell us about a time you helped a family find the perfect home?\nMy most recent couple has four children and three dogs, and they were living in an apartment at the time I met them. She loves cooking, but their limited space didn't allow for it. So, she wanted to find a home with a full kitchen, and he wanted to find a home with a pool. We searched high and low for the perfect home, and we just closed on it last week. They are going to renovate it and make it spectacular.\nI have hundreds of stories like this one, and they truly touch my heart. I'm very attached to all my clients, and they know that. What might surprise someone about moving here?\nI think they love the small-town feel. It's not too big, but it's also not too small. I've also heard people say how welcoming and friendly the community has been. They feel loved and valued. Their kids have parks to play in. There are amazing restaurants and amazing churches.\nHow quickly did the market react once the announcement was made?\nMy broker and I are all about the community, and we always try to stay ahead of the curve. We knew it was coming, and we started to do research on the properties and the building sites. We attended all the Chamber of Commerce events and knew how many people would come in and in what month. Then we started marketing and looking for listings. We started talking to people and worked to make sure that everyone who came in would have a home.\nOne of the reasons you love real estate is that you can positively impact and serve your community. In what ways does this market give you the opportunity to live out your purpose?\nI always look to get to know the family and understand what is important to them. Do they like to go out to eat on the weekends? Do they like to get out on the water? Learning about each family and their hobbies helps me determine how far from the site they prefer to be. Factors such as shorter commutes or waterfront access could be dealbreakers for them. There are so many variables to consider when making sure our families are taken care of.\nThe most important thing is to ensure they are happy with their new location and that their needs are being met, whether that's having a good school for their children or having a great neighborhood with proximity to the activities they enjoy.\nCan you tell us about a time you helped a family find the perfect home?\nMy most recent couple has four children and three dogs, and they were living in an apartment at the time I met them. She loves cooking, but their limited space didn't allow for it. So, she wanted to find a home with a full kitchen, and he wanted to find a home with a pool. We searched high and low for the perfect home, and we just closed on it last week. They are going to renovate it and make it spectacular.\nI have hundreds of stories like this one, and they truly touch my heart. I'm very attached to all my clients, and they know that. We're friends for life.\nTo learn more about John Rea Realty, visit www.johnrearealty.com.","confidence":0.9,"diagnostics_url":"/api/diagnose?url=https%3A//www.nola.com/sponsored/meta/monroe-welcomes-new-families-as-meta-ai-investment-boosts-real-estate-market/article_5a26ebaf-b29a-4847-9db4-005ba1d5a03f.html","quality_bucket":"high","failure_kind":"none","retryable":false,"quality_reason":"High confidence: full text extraction produced 3324 characters.","quality_profile":{"profile_version":"extraction_quality.v2","bucket":"high","confidence":0.9,"failure_kind":"none","retryable":false,"retry_after_attempts":0,"reason":"High confidence: full text extraction produced 3324 characters.","operator_guidance":{"severity":"ok","recommended_action":"trust_full_text","next_step":"Use the extracted full text as the primary article source.","operator_label":"Ready","can_retry":false,"can_use_summary":false,"diagnostics_required":false},"content_depth":{"contract_version":"content_depth.v1","category":"full_text","label":"Full text","has_full_text":true,"has_summary":true,"content_length":3324,"summary_length":280,"usable_text_length":3324,"source_field":"content"},"legacy_collapsed":false,"signals":{"extract_state":"ok","extract_error":null,"extract_retries":0,"content_length":3324,"summary_length":280}},"tags":[],"format_contract_version":"news_item_formats.v1"}}}
